  An anime where the character actually stays unaware the entire time

  My Review of "The Unaware Atelier Meister"!

  Guys, I don’t know about y’all, but I think he’s unaware of his powers…

  ____Story____

  This story follows the life of Kurt Rockhans. After being kicked out of his party for being “useless,” Kurt provides his services around communities for money. However, he’s unaware of his high proficiency in every skill that’s not offensive. This eventually leads to his story taking a turn as his goal focuses on saving a friend and he unknowingly becomes an atelier meister.

  ____Characters____

  Kurt Rockhans is an unbelievably smart but also somewhat dumb person at the same time. He has vast amounts of knowledge ranging from ores to food, but is completely unaware of the value of his powers.Yuiishia is one of Kurt’s first employers after he’s removed from his party. She’s quite fond and defensive of Kurt, who’s helped her. Apart from Yuiishia, Kurt also meets Liselotte Homurous, a third princess. Just like Yuiishia, she’s fond of Kurt and tries to help her as much as she can.

  ____The Good____

  I really liked how the show actually made Kurt completely unaware of his powers. In these types of anime where the MC is unknowingly powerful, they usually realize it in a few episodes or it’s really badly executed. However, I felt that this anime hit the right spot and actually made a good anime with a fully unaware powerful MC. The comedy was also quite enjoyable, with the voice actors doing a good job at portraying how shockingly overpowered Kurt is while he doesn’t know it. Despite its somewhat lack of uniqueness, this anime is pretty enjoyable.

  ____The Bad____

  I feel like there isn’t really a bad thing that this anime does. It’s just that it’s not really a standout anime. I don’t think this anime does anything super special to really call this a “great anime.” It’s kind of just a good generic anime and that’s it.

  ____The Downright Ugly____

  Nothing downright ugly about this anime.

  ____Is It Worth The Watch?____

  Honestly, I think this anime is worth the watch. I liked the MC’s actual unawareness and the story was actually pretty nice. It doesn’t do enough to make itself a great anime, but it’s still a cozy, good one to watch. Overall, it’s a pretty good generic anime.

  A Good Generic Anime Carried by Its Lovable, Dense MC

  Before we dive in, let's check off a few common anime tropes I spotted while watching The Unaware Atelier Meister:
  Is the MC Overpowered?: Yes
  Does the MC have a hidden S-tier or better class?: Yes
  Is there a harem for the MC?: Yes, but it's surprisingly reversed.
  Is the MC OP and socially dense?: Yes, but ours is genuinely unaware.
  Is the MC dense?: Yes, but it's played off as innocent naivety.
  With that checklist complete, let's talk about the show!

  The Unaware Atelier Meister is, admittedly, a run-of-the-mill generic fantasy anime, hitting all the tropes I've just listed. Our protagonist, Kurt Rockhans, is an overpowered MC with the absolute worst combat stats imaginable—stats that can't ever increase. This peculiar situation stems from his innocent nature and incredibly unaware status, largely because he grew up in a village where everyone shared his absurdly high skill level (SSS-tier in everything except combat).

  After moving out to different cities and taking various jobs, he eventually joined a party that only took him on as a cook and carrier, someone who seemingly couldn't do anything but the chores they assigned him. He later gets kicked for being, as they call it, useless in combat. What they don't realize, of course, is that he was inherently carrying everything except combat, as the food he cooked secretly buffed them to be extremely overpowered.

  Humor and Unpredictability

  While the anime largely succeeds thanks to its humor, this humor primarily stems from Kurt's ever-impending presence. His companions often know that if they include Kurt, plans will inevitably go awry either he'll fix things far too quickly, or his secret as the overpowered Atelier Meister will be revealed. But don't worry; he has people protecting him, preventing him from becoming a slave to some rich old hag whose plans involve world domination.

  This protection comes in handy, especially after Kurt unknowingly fixes a curse the princess had. This leads her to join him, acting like a normal citizen and a companion with a secret love interest in the boy. I don't blame her; who wouldn't fall for someone who magically fixes a curse with rice soup? The reverse harem aspect is genuinely amusing, as the various characters around Kurt develop affections for him, despite (or perhaps because of) his oblivious nature.

  

  Final Remarks

  While the story is incredibly generic and predictable, the main character truly carries the show. Seriously, Kurt hands down is the sole reason I actually like this anime, thanks to the unpredictability and unawareness he brings to the table. He either fixes things far too quickly, or he messes them up badly and then promptly fixes them shortly after.

  Should you watch this anime? Absolutely! This series isn't about exploiting Kurt's overpowered abilities; it's about protecting him and solving the problems the world faces through his unintentional genius. Is it a great anime? No, it's a generic one. However, it's a good generic anime with a decent plot and solid humor that's incredibly charming.

  Unlike my review for Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in Dungeon, I simply poured out what I genuinely felt for The Unaware Atelier Meister here, trying to stay true to my honest reactions while watching it. For me, it earns an 8/10.
